My last real post dates back to the beginning of August. It's not that nothing happened since, on the contrary, but I just didn't even know how to put things to word.

Currently I'm working 4 hours a week. Which isn't a lot, and I'm nowhere near teaching at this point, but it's a start. The bureaucracy concerning work and illnesses etc...is mind-blowing. I'm currently at a point in which I think life was much more calm during cancer treatment than it is now.

Anyway...last Tuesday I decided to go into the woods again, after a long, long time. It was a very foggy day, which was perfect, because sounds get quieter and the entire world seems to be more calm and serene. I had my iPhone with me and managed to get some decent shots out of it, considering.

Some u[dates first and then some autumn photos, because autumn is pretty this year
  • the tumor has shrunk by half its size
  • I don't carry the BRCA-1, BRCA-2 and CHEC2 genes
  • Last round of chemo was postponed by a week, which was blissful because it meant I had a good week left to become me again
  • I have the best nurse in the whole world, who listens, really listens who's calm and makes me feel heard. In between all the shitty things, she's a beacon of light, who makes everything a bit better to handle and also nicer.
  • The FEC-treatment has come to an end and I know receive a different combination of chemo. It's supposed to cause less nausea and vomiting, but of course I'm one of the few people who's really sensitive to it. The past 2 days weren't funny at all, but today it feels a bit calmer.
  • I have 5 big rounds of chemo left, and 6 smaller rounds. I'm nearly halfway there when it comes to the big ones and hopefully the small ones will be less intense.
  • This Thursday I'll receive a Port-a-Cath. My veins are getting more and more difficult to find and while I still had many doubts, the lovely nurse decided for me I should get one. I'm super scared about the entire procedure, even though it's supposed to be minor.
Some photos then: Read more... )

prettygoodyear: (seasons - Summer)
Went on a school camp the past 3 days. It's never something I love, but it was alright this year. The weather was extremely blissful, which was wonderful.

On the first morning, after a night of no sleep for me, I decided to get up at 7.15. Everyone was still asleep. I went outside, with my camera, and walked over to a grass field. Sat in the sun for about an hour and took photos of all the dew there. It was magical, and a lovely way to start a hectic day.

Last weekend my dad, mum, sister and me spent a weekend in a town called Deventer. It's a cute little town, located right next to a river. The town itself is filled with history and just a lovely place to be in.
We spent the weekend in a B&B which turned out to not really be worth the 5 stars and a 9.3 rating it got, but turned out the owner got a bit greedy by all the positive notes and decided to go for more money. He had us pay for a room that wasn't even there yet: it was basically an office, there wasn't even a bed in it when we arrived.
We couldn't make arrangements somewhere else that quickly so decided to stay, but told the owner we wouldn't be paying full price.
All in all he got a bit scared for bad reviews I think, cause in the end he offered us the room for free next time we visit. Which we won't, of course.

Anyway...some pictures. We climbed a church tower, from which we had lovely views over the town and its surroundings and we also walked next to the river. All in all a lovely weekend, especially since it's been quite some times since it's been just the four of us.

I love our skies, especially when the sun is setting and there are clouds. First one was taken last Thursday from the window of the train. The other two were taken last night through the window of a car.

Yesterday I went to Amsterdam to visit Waterstones and the ABC. Managed to buy 2 books, got 1 for free because I had vouchers. So that was nice. When I took the train back home the sun was about to set. I decided to take out the phone and snap a picture. It was a lucky shot, because the sun was blocking my view.

And now it's back to work again tonight and holy shit the freak outs I've had. Sigh. When will I learn...

I decided to set up my own photography website. Even though I'm just an amateur and not a lot of photos have been posted there.
I just love being busy with it etc...

I so want to take part in photography (editing) classes. Because half the time I have no idea what I'm doing in Aperture, lol. Anyway...today went to visit my sister. She asked me to do a shoot with her so she'd have some pictures of her pregnant bum. I felt honored, but also nervous. I am by no means at all a professional photographer and when I shoot photos, they are often of nature, not humans. I learned that I still have so much to learn! But some photos turned out quite lovely. I won't be posting pictures of my sister here, but will share a shot of my niece which I just love, because it captures her spirit to well! And also a shot of a puddle, which turned out interesting in my opinion.

prettygoodyear: (Wondering)
So...for the longest time I wonder what to do with my life. Children's counseling? Always a bit of a doubt, and doubting means no. Painting? Writing? What makes me happy? I find that I really love to take photos. Play with the camera, look at the world differently, make pretty pictures. I want to do more with it. Buy a decent camera and lenses. Buy a tripod. I just figured that this is what makes me actually really happy right now. And is really something I want to do more with. I know it's hard to make a living with it, but that's not my main goal. It's what gives me energy and that's what I need. And we'll see what comes out of it.
