So I completed my Goodreads challenge a few weeks back and with that also pretty much got through all my books. The bookstore we had in town that sold English books has been gone for 2 months now and I needed my books. I eventual bought Neil Gaiman's most recent book in Dutch because I needed to read something and it looked promising. (it was!) I pretty much finished it in a day and that left me, again, with no books. So today I finally decided to go visit Amsterdam again, only to visit the ABC and Waterstones. Since I got some many back from my healthcare insurance, I decided to use that money for books. I eventually just went over to the counter of Waterstones with six books in had because I knew I shouldn't be buying any more. And then I also scored one book at the ABC and got a discount because I am a teacher. How awesome is that? What's also awesome is that so many English books are so much cheaper than Dutch books. Most Dutch books often go for around €19/€20, hardcover books easily for €25. The most expensive book I bought today was the latest Patrick Ness, hardcover edition, which was €21. The rest was priced below that and I even got combos like 'buy one, get second half priced'. Anyway…happy happy again to be surrounded by new books again!
