prettygoodyear: (reading - I love books)
First of all: last week I got a letter saying the complaint filed against me was dismissed. So we can put that behind. Was really quick as well, since it was supposed to take 4 weeks, but they sent it out right before the school break, so yay!

Then: re-reading Harry Potter, again. I try to read them all once a year. I never get enough of them, ever. I remember when I read the first book for the first time: I was on a holiday in England with my parents in 2001 and I decided to pick up this book in the library because everyone around me was raving about them. I started the book on the beach and finished it pretty much the same night on the couch in our rented cottage in Kent. That whole holiday was amazing, it was my first time in England and I loved it there so much, felt so at home there. And then this book turned out to be awesome as well. That summer I picked up the other 3 books as well and remember finishing each book really late at night cause I couldn't put them down once I started to read in them.

I'm now 34 and I still have an amazing love for these books. I love the whole concept of magic and whenever I read the books I imagine a world like that actually truly existing and how I would love to live in such a world. I'm currently reading the 3rd book and it is one of my favourites, along with the 4th and fifth book. I think The Order Of The Phoenix is my absolute favourite, but I love them all so much.

I've got a friend who I gave the first book as a present last year cause she'd never read any of the books and was interested. She never finished it, said she didn't care for it much really. I was, and still am, shocked. But then again, books are so personal, just like music. I love books though. I love reading. I picked up reading again this year and have already purchased so many books. I love escaping this world and enter a whole different world. My goal for this year was to read a book a week, but so far I'm 13 books ahead of my goal. And when the Summer holiday arrives I might read even more books. I'm also still doubting about going on a holiday to Ireland again this summer, if only for all those lovely, English, bookstores. I need a bigger suitcase then though in order to bring home all those new books with me, heh.

Well…off to read I go again!

prettygoodyear: (Reading - Bookstore)
During my stay in Killarney, Ireland I ended up visiting the bookstores almost on a daily basis. The Killarney bookshop of course, which is always, always great to visit. And then there's also this newsagent with loads and loads and loads of second-hand books. And though Ireland may be fairly expensive with a lot of things, books, and tea aren't one of those things. On my first day there I visited the second-hand section and instantly had my eyes set on this book with a red cover: The Book Of Lost Things. For only €4,- I couldn't let it sit there and bought it. And ended up reading it in only 2 days times. I loved that book so much and even ended up crying.

Also bought the first book of the Chaos Walking Trilogy for only €3,- and so far am loving it.

I can never get enough of bookstores. Just before I headed for the airport on my way home, I walked into Waterstones in Cork to get the 2 other books in the Chaos Walking Trilogy. Got them both for a total price of €14,- which was nice. Wish books wouldn't be so expensive over here. Most books sell for €20,-, sometimes they are on sale for €15,- or €10,-. I could spend days in bookstores and would love to work in one, though I'm sure it isn't as romantic as I think it is. But books are my life, even if I don't always read as much as I want. I love getting sucked into stories though, love escaping the real world and enter the world of books.
