Three years ago today I was in Ireland and my second niece Madelief was born. She's turned 3 today, while skiing in Austria. Can't believe it's been 3 years already!

Exactly 2 years ago today I arrived in Ireland. For the first time during winter. Had been looking forward to it for months and months and was excited to return there. Upon arrival though, things felt a bit "off". I wasn't as happy to be there again, wasn't feeling it really. And it upset me cause I didn't understand why.
A day after my arrival, I got a phone call from my mum: I had just become an aunt for the second time again. Madelief had been born an hour prior to the call. I always knew there was a slights chance that during my holiday, my sister might give birth, though she wasn't due for another 3 weeks. I was acting all cool about it as well, that I wouldn't return home if she'd give birth early etc...But I was wrong. Because my off feeling became even more intense. Ireland didn't feel right anymore, though I gave it another day. The next day though, I woke up extremely early, feeling uneasy and anxious. I called my dad and told him I wanted to book a flight home for the night. I asked him for my credit card number so I could book a flight.
It cost me some money, but I had to return home, see my sister and my newborn niece.

Two days after she was born, my mom drove me over to my sister, 75 minutes from here. My sister didn't know I was coming. I remember getting out of the car, and my eldest niece, Rosalie, was peeking through the window and screamed "Aunt Nancy, Aunt Nancy!" and my sister couldn't figure out what was going on. And then I entered the bedroom and tears were shed, haha.

Tomorrow she'll turn 2, this amazing, wonderful creature. And this story will be told every birthday, again and again.

Wednesday she'll turn 2: Madelief, my youngest niece. My oh my, how did it go so fast. Anyway...a few entries back I mentioned her love for everything glittery and how I'd make a little book for her full of glittery stuff. Here are the photos. Nothing fancy-schmancy btw, I am apparently not THAT creative, haha!

prettygoodyear: (Ireland - Torc mountain)

Two days ago I arrived in Ireland. Had been looking forward to it for weeks. Upon arrival things felt a bit off, but I was also just tired. I think I somehow had sensed what would happen. Yesterday my niece was born. It had always been a possibility, just never thought she'd arrive 2 weeks early. I tried to enjoy my holiday but couldn't. I didn't enjoy myself at all and really just wanted to see my niece and sister. I woke up at 6.15 this morning panicking. Decided to see if I could take a plane home today i could. So here I am at the airport. I feel completely and utterly weird and not really in my body. But I'll see Madelief tomorrow. After that we'll see how i'll feel. Never in a million years did I think this would happen, I never looked forward to a holiday as much as I did this time.
