Last Thursday I went to Berlin with my best friend. We went by train, and stayed for 3 nights. I've never been to Berlin before, and was hugely impressed by it. Gorgeous buildings, great atmosphere and the history of things was overwhelming, but in a good way. Hard to imagine that the city it is now, was seperated by a wall only 30 years ago.
Fernsehturm, the most iconic landmark of Berlin I think.

Views from Fernsehturm:

Potsdamerplatz. Which gave me goosebumps, because you could follow the line, which marked where the wall used to be. It was placed so randomly, which made it all the more bizar it was once a reality.

Holocaust Memorial. Which was also very impressive and overwhelming.

Brandenburger Tor. With the million tourists (of which we were also a part of, of course)

The Mall of Berlin. Which was HUGE. We went there for 2 craft stores. And a drink.

Inside this mall was a slide going down from the 3rd floor. Adults were allowed in as well. So my friend and I both took a turn as well. SO AMAZINGLY COOL!

A small remain of the Berlin wall. Again, very impressive.

We had trouble finding a place to have dinner. Not that there weren't any places, we were just overwhelmed. Lonely Planet pocket bible came to the rescue, when we read about this place, which had walls covered in books. We didn't need to read any further, we wanted to go there. The food was delicious and cheap too!

Fernsehturm again

Capitvated balloon. Which you could ride for 15 minutes. We both wanted to, despite our fear of heights. It would go up to 150 meters. You would have amazing views. But sadly, it was a windy day, and so it wouldn't go up.

Checkpoint Charlie, one of 2 places the west could cross over to the east. Now a busy shopping street, with some museums scattered around.

The rest of our 3rd day there, we decided to just explore the city by bus/tram/train/metro. Former East Berlin is where there are trams, the west doesn't really have any if I'm correct. So these photos are all taken in the eastern part, where our hotel was also located.

The hotel had a Biergarten (beer garden) in which we spent our final night. They had Guinness!

The end.
