1. On the first real day of winter, we run out of salt for the roads. Like last winter didn't have the same issues...Funny things is, three weeks ago they said they were well prepared for this winter. Yeah. Absolutely.
2. A bike ride that normally takes 10 minutes, now takes 45 minutes. Which basically means you can listen to a full Adele album, for example.
3. Bikes are not important. Roads get cleared from snow, cycle lanes not so much. Especially when there is almost no salt anymore, then cars go before bikes. WHICH IS ANNOYING BEYOND WORDS!
4. The Dutch railway organization held a winter test last autumn, when there was no snow. They said they were ready for winter. First drop of snow and everything became a chaos and still is. Electric sign boards won't work due to the cold. Trains won't ride because rails are frozen. Amazing really.
It's a good thing I don't have to go out and go to work. Because otherwise I'd been so pissed. Because it would mean getting up and hour early each day in order to get to work in time. I just hope that by the time I have to go back to work, there will be salt again, cycle lanes will be clear etc...Otherwise it's going to be a long, long winter...
