I took the bike out again to ride to the nearby lake. Last summer I went to the quiet side of it, but I discovered that the harbour is quite a lovely place as well. Quiet enough, but also lots to see. I sat on a bench, had a book with me and just enjoyed the weather and light breeze. In the distance I could see a film crew filming a movie on the lake with ancient boats. Apparently it's a movie about a famous ancient guy Michiel de Ruyter. Was fun to watch. Was just nice to be out there.
I live in a town that lacks any real history (it's not even 50 years old, build on the bottom of the sea, basically) and it's not really an exciting city/town to live in. But the harbour, the lake etc...are places that are just wonderful. In the past 10 years or so they build apartments near the harbour and I'd love to live in one. The views are stunning, there is quiet, but also just people and a liveliness. One day maybe one day.
Anyway...days like these give me energy and live. I don't really enjoy sitting in my garden (nothing to see really and obnoxious neighbours surrounding me), but going to this place (only a 5 minute ride) is lovely. Makes me enjoy this holiday a lot more as well.
(and I need to get more mindful because holy shit I can't stop that brain of mine)
Also...thunderstorm is supposed to arrive soon here, hopefully a real one this time, because so far we haven't got any of the ones they promised.
