prettygoodyear: (it would be nice if something made sense)
What is democracy these days? It's something I've been wondering about a lot. Cause our government seems to think it's important to fight terror and terrorism. In order to do so the entire nation is now sorta kinda guilty until proven otherwise. Eh? Well yes, you know have to identify yourself just about everywhere. Refuse? That's a crime. Own a bank account: you have to identify yourself, give out your social security number and have yourself registered. Surf the web? Fine, but we'll store every information about you because you might commit a crime. Don't agree? We don't care. We do as we please.
You can vote for your favorite party, but it doesn't really matter though. Politics these days is all about looks and drama, not about real, important issues, like education, health care etc...Costs for health care rise with 150% percent and nothing can be done about it. And throughout it all politicians fight over and over again about the most stupid things. Everyone is screaming and yelling at each other about how wrong this or that person is and the actual issues are forgotten about.

All this upsets me. I live in a country where they pretty much know everything about me. Sooner or later they will open all my mail to see if I'm no terrorist. I don't see how this country can still call itself democratic, when it's mostly bureaucratic bullshit.
I used to watch Judging Amy and a lot of episodes pointed out how fucked up this world is. Now, this was a fictional TV show, but a lot of things mentioned in that show actually hit reality pretty close. There are so many things wrong in this country, in the world. And it upsets me, frustrates me to no end. I get so angry when I see all those politicians on TV, fake smiles, promising the world, getting nothing done. I don't want to care about it, but I find it so unfair that I have a voice of my own that is so damn unimportant. I can yell, and scream as much as I want, it won't be heard. And that goes for so many people. So many people stop caring. And that's where it all goes wrong: not caring, means the government can be in control over everything. It makes me so mad when people just shrug and won't even fight anymore. But I see that I too often don't fight anymore, cause what is there to fight for? I have a voice of my own, but no one listens. And it upsets me so much.
