prettygoodyear: (Books!)
I got Leopard as an upgrade for cheap and decided to install it on my brand new iMac today. Took me about an hour to do the upgrade. It's a little bit funny to get used to some new features, and I don't like the standard icons that are delivered with it, but hopefully CandyBar will be released later this month and hopefully the gorgeous aqua icons will also work with Leopard.
I also have to get used to the new doc, though it looks pretty. The menu bar only really works when your background isn't too full of too many colors. Don't really like that.
What I DO like though, it cover flow. I don't really care for the appearance, but I love, love, LOVE the fact that with videos for instance you can just preview it in cover flow mode without having to launch the application for it. It's really cool.
And time machine is excellent as well. I just connected this extra hard disk to my mac, and time machine instantly recognized it and took action. Really neat and funky.
Mail pretty much looks the same, though the mailbox icons are tiny on this imac.
I'm kinda sad that with Leopard, Apple got rid off the lovely looking aqua look. This greyish look isn't really 'mac like', but more 'pc' like. Shame.

Is it worth upgrading? Yes and no. Yes because of cover flow and time machine, no because well, it doesn't look as pretty as Tiger. It's okay, but I have to get used to it.
There's still loads of features to check out of course, but all in all it's okay. Within a few days/weeks/months I'll be used to Leopard and will think Tiger looks weird.
